Psychological Counselling

Psychological Counselling

When a person is detected with cancer it becomes very difficult for him/her and their family to cope with it. We at Oriental Cancer Institute give psychological counselling to the patient and their family. Which works with a mental health professional to cope with the challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis. Counselling can help you understand your feelings and reactions, and it provides a safe place to talk about your worries.

A counsellor cannot always solve your problems. But they can provide a helpful, outside viewpoint and they are trained to help you deal with difficult situations.

How does counselling help?

Talking with a counsellor can help you:
  1. Learn how to cope with a cancer diagnosis
  2. Feel less overwhelmed and more in control
  3. Manage anxiety and depression
  4. Cope with symptoms and side effects, such as pain and fatigue
  5. Deal with emotional concerns about self-image, body image, and intimacy
  6. Manage fears or worries about the future
  7. A counsellor can also help you talk with the people around you. For example, they can help you:
  8. Communicate clearly with your health care team
  9. Talk with family and friends and adjust to changes
